About Me
Stacey: Born 7/25/1969
My name is Stacey Rader. I am both a high school biology teacher and a veterinary technician. I have been teaching for five years and have been in veterinary medicine for twelve years.
My latest endeavor is that I have joined with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Team in Training to train for and compete in my first triathlon. I am training for the Pacific Grove Triathlon on September 10, 2005. I have had "triathlon" on my list of things to do before I turn 40 but, I honestly never thought I would do it.
Team in Training is an amazing organization that is committed to helping me go from couch potato to triathlete in four months. I have decided to do the Olympic Distance triathlon at Pacific Grove. This means that I will be swimming 0.93 mile (in the Ocean!), biking 25 miles, and running 6.2 miles on September 10th.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma society's Team In Training is raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. There are millions of people that silently suffer with these diseases. With Team in Training I have met many of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's honorees. The honorees are team members that are either currently battling one of these diseases or are in remission from one of the blood borne cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team! I was so impressed and inspired by their stories that I decided that I wanted to help in any small way that I could and I'm completing this triathlon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
