Toby was owned by a family for the first 48 years of his life. In 2001, he had a hard time coming out of brumation (similar to hibernation) and ended up at my veterinary hospital. He needed to be nursed back to health and his ninety-three year old owner did not feel that she could care for him anymore. I had been nursing him for a couple of weeks when she asked me if I would keep him permanently. I adopted him and he lives most of the year in the rabbit yard and spends his winters snoozing away in a recycle bin in the garage.
